Description:

Produced in the 1920s and 30s, the Handy Gun was marketed as an inexpensive and effective way of dealing with varmints at close ranges, and was the forefather of the modern rifled 45 Long Colt/410 "snake pistol". While not directly targeted by the 1934 National Firearms Act, the Handy Gun and it's competitors were effectively driven to extinction by the law. Brass bead front and frame groove rear sights, with "410-12 m/m CHOKE" on top of the barrel, the two line address on the right side of the frame and "H.&R. "HANDY GUN"" on the left. Fitted with a smooth forearm and pistol grip with prominent web spur.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as modified (grip a non-factory period replacement), with 95% of the original blue finish, showing a few light scratches on the barrel and 97% vivid case color on the frame. The wood is very good, though the pistol grip is a custom replacement with a 1 1/2 inch crack extending from the front tang. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This is a smoothbore pistol, an "Any Other Weapon" as defined by the National Firearms Act and registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in accordance with said law. It is the sole duty of the successful bidder to comply with the National Firearms Act and any other relevant Federal, State or local laws that affect their place of residence.
