Built in the Pieper monoblock style with stepped Damascus barrels. Features a single brass bead sight on the solid matte rib, marked "<-H. PIEPER PATENTED APRIL.23.1881. DIANA. FINE DAMASCUS->". Choked cylinder/cylinder. The 3 inch chambers are engraved with a zig zag pattern at the front and back, with a flower on the doll's head extension. Receiver is intricately engraved with tight scrolling whirls and marked on both sides "H. PIEPER". Engraving continues onto the trigger guard, fences, screw heads, hammers and break lever. One of the hammer screws is a contemporary replacement. Mounted on a multipoint checkered splinter forearm with engraved hardware and horn tip insert, checkered round knob pistol grip stock and a checkered horn buttplate. Length of pull is 14 1/8 inches.

Very good overall with 60% of the original finish. The barrels display thinner blue along the length with stronger color in the protected areas along the rib, as well as the chamber area. Edge wear along the top of the rib and muzzle, with scattered light scratches, and light dings throughout. The receiver has bold case colors with some edge wear and silvering at the high points. The wood is very good with well defined checkering, and scattered small indentations and light scratches throughout. The buttplate has had several cracks repaired. Mechanically excellent.
