The included documents identify this Colt New Service revolver as having been originally manufactured in 1916 and rechambered for the 45 Long Colt cartridge and as the property of Zack Miller Jr. (the grandson of Col. George Washington Miller, the founder of the 101 Ranch). The top of the barrel has the two line Colt address and patent markings (faint), and the left side of the barrel is marked "NEW SERVICE .455 ELEY" (faint) followed by "455-760/6 TONS" and "BNP" next to a "crown/BNP" proof. It has wide, smooth walnut grips, a lanyard loop, and a trigger shoe. Included with this revolver are four evidence bags from the Kay County Sheriff's Office from the suicide of Sarah Miller including lead slug, bullet/case fragments, eight .45 Colt cartridges, and two empty cases. One of the tag lists "1- Revolver Colt 455-760 Brown Grips Swivel on Butt". According to the notarized letter from Pat Muchmore, her husband Gareth B. Muchmore was good friends with Zack Miller Jr. The friends hunted, collected guns, and went on safaris in Africa together. Zack married Sarah Harmon and in "1972, she committed suicide with Zack's gun (reportedly this example) at the 101 Store, where Zack and she lived part time. . . Because of Zack's mental state at the time of Sarah's death, the gun and shells and lead [were] given to Gareth. Zack knew he had the gun but said he wanted Gareth to keep it. It came into my possession on Gareth's death." Also included are newspaper clippings from Zachary Miller Jr.'s death along with that of Alice Harth.

Very good as rechambered to 45 Long Colt and partially refinished. 90% of the blue finish remains on the barrel which was refinished during the period of use. The frame and cylinder retain 50% of the original finish with a brown patina on the balance. There are some spots of brighter edge wear, a light drag line on the cylinder, some small patches of minor pitting, light spotting on the right side, and scattered minor scratches. The replacement grips are good with only faint handling/storage marks. Mechanically excellent.
