Description:

Originally manufactured by Savage Arms in 1942, this rifle was selected for upgrade to a Number 4 Mark I (T) Sniper Rifle, the British standard sniper weapon from the 1930s into the 1960s. Typically performed on British-made rifles selected directly off the assembly line, Savage Enfields with the (T) upgrade are rare to see. Blade and folding ladder sights, with the "battle sight" properly absent from the ladder, the production date on the left side of the socket, and the proper mounting hardware on the left side of the frame. The scope is a Mark 32, marked to "H.B.M.Co." with a registration number of "9774", a cast base marked "AV2516" with properly numbered rings, and a black painted brass rear eye shield. Smooth pistol grip stock, with the raised comb, a canvas sling and an alloy buttplate. With a hardwood transport case bearing the proper painted nomenclature, a metal scope case, and an unidentified small part.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 85% of the arsenal matte black finish, showing some light wear and spotting. The stock is fine, with a few scuffs on the wrist and scattered dings. The comb is loose, with a few cracks in the front. Optics are clear, with minor fraying of the crosshair and post. The case is good, with a torn handle and a number of scuffs and dings. Mechanically very good.
