This is a beautiful example of a period engraved commercial Walther Model PP pistol. The pistol displays the traditional deep relief German "oak leaf" style engraving that covers almost 98% of the exposed metal surfaces. The markings and proof marks have all been framed or outlined in a nice geometric engraved panel with the oak leaf engraving going right up to the edge of the panels. The pistol is an early pattern that has the 90 degree safety that has also been fully engraved. The entire pistol has a Walther blued finish, and it is fitted with a set of checkered black plastic Walther marked grips. The slide has the standard markings with the Walther Banner followed by "Waffenfabrik Walther, Zella-Mehlis (Thur)/Walther's Patent Cal 7.65mm" followed by "MOD.PP". The right side of the frame and slide have the "Crown/N" commercial proof marks with the same proof located on the front right side of the barrel. The serial number is marked vertically on the right side of the frame (872155). Although there is no specific inscription or presentation markings, it falls in line with several other fully engraved Walther pistols illustrated and described in the book "WALTHER VOLUME II- Engraved, Presentation and Standard Models" by James L. Rankin. The pistol is complete with a post-war leather Walther presentation case with a red velvet/satin interior lining and comes with one Walther marked PP magazine with the black finger extension on the bottom.

Very fine as custom embellished with 85% of the blue finish showing minor edge and high spot wear overall with thinning and blue loss on the front and rear grip straps from light use. The grips are also in excellent condition with nice distinct checkering and markings overall. The case is in excellent condition with a nice, intact leatherette surface with wear and scuffing along the edges. A very nice looking custom engraved pre-war Walther Model PP pistol.
