Description:

This is an example of an unusual WWII Walther pistol that is serial numbered "4A". In looking at the overall configuration of the pistol nothing looks unusual except that the frame was originally serial numbered "2188X5 P". This marking was then milled off and remarked (panagraphed/milled) with serial number "4A" over the old number. Additionally, at some point the barrel has been replaced as it has a non-standard cross-pin, and the rear of the barrel is not quite flush with the rear of the frame. The inside edge of the ejector has also been milled out and shows a small weld spot on top of the ejector. It is fitted with a standard WWII era Walther PP marked slide with Walther inside the banner followed by the standard two line commercial markings followed by Mod PP. The slide is unnumbered on the inside and has the late style 60 degree safety and standard fixed sights. The slide and frame both have a single Nazi Eagle commercial firing proof with no proof mark on the barrel. It is complete with one original blued Walther marked magazine.

Rating Definition:

Very good as refinished/remarked with 85% blue finish overall with the slide showing a light brown patina on the top and left side intermixed with the original blue finish and the frame showing slightly more blue with thinning on the grip straps. The grips are in fine condition with nice distinct checkering and markings. Mechanically excellent.
