The third year of Mauser Luger production during the build-up for the Second World War, 1936 is when the Wehrmacht replaced the date codes used in previous years and start using normal dates, casting aside what little regard for the Treaty of Versailles they still had. Blade front and notch rear sights, with "1936" on the chamber, "S/42" on the toggle link, "droop-wing eagle/63" proofs on the extension and barrel and "eagle" firing proofs on the barrel, extension and breechblock. Excluding the magazine ("fxo" marked, blue body/alloy base) the external parts bear matching numbers in the "military" style. Fitted with straw finished small parts, niter blue screws and pins, and checkered grips.

Fine, with 50% of the faded original blue finish, showing areas of bright gray on the high edges and along the sides of the barrel, a brown patina on the grip straps, and minor spotting on the frame. 30% of the original straw and niter blue finishes remain, strongest on the right side. Grips are very good, with wear on the bottoms, a few dents and verdigris spots. Mechanically excellent.
