Description:

Developed for wear by the top officers of the Luftwaffe, the General Officer Sword takes a number of design cues from the gentleman's dress swords of the 18th and 19th centuries resulting in a lightweight weapon that would look good while still being durable enough to withstand the rigors of daily wear and service use. Measuring 37 1/4 inches in overall length, the 31 inch straight single fuller blade is unmarked save for the WKC "helm" logo on the left ricasso and finished in nickel. The hilt is cast alloy with a gold colored finish showing scroll and floral decoration over much of the surface, an apple shaped counterguard with folding reverse marked "6" on the underside installed over the lightly upturned dual quillion cross guard, a "D" shaped knuckle bow, round ball pommel, flared pommel nut and a wire wrapped hardwood grip with a gilt Luftwaffe eagle badge on the obverse side. With a black leather scabbard fit with engraved gilt throat and tip.

Rating Definition:

Excellent as made in the post-war years. The blade is lightly frosted with a tiny amount of spotting and wear. A few light handling marks are present on the hilt with some smooth wear along the high edges. A small amount of play is present in the grip wire which shows a mixed aged patina. Otherwise, the hilt is tight and well fitted. The scabbard shows a small amount of scuffing and dings. A fine reproduction of a scarce Third Reich officer's sidearm.
