This is an example of one of less than 2,000 Remington Dogs Head Cane Guns. These cane guns were manufactured circa 1866 to 1888. Steel tip with a post sight immediately behind it, a Gutta Percha veneer over the barrel and action, a firing button below the finely detailed dog head handle. It is chambered for the 22 RF cartridge and has an overall length of 34 1/2 inches. The serial number is reported to be 247, however writer is unable to locate it.

Fair. There is an old repair just below the dogs head around the shaft. The upper portion moves freely and does not latch down over the action. There is a minor 1 inch crack on the upper portion, and overall there are some minor dents and dings. The action does not function.
