Description:

This Model 1895 is chambered for the Russian 7.62x54R cartridge and was manufactured in 1916. It has the stripper clip guides on the action, nearly full length forearm, hand guard, military style sights, and bayonet lug front barrel band that were standard for the rifles manufactured for the Russian contract. This example also has an inlaid silver oval plaque inscribed with "K.F.B." on the right side of the receiver at the front. This later feature along with the receiver mounted Lyman peep sight and lack of Russian Ordnance markings suggest this rifle never left the U.S.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as partially refinished (wood). The barrel retains 97% original blue finish with some slight fading. The hammer has golden oil stain. The remaining components retain 80% plus of the original blue finish and have some scattered scratches, patches of brown patina, and some slight spotting. The very good refinished wood has a small chip on the left side at the junction with the upper tang. The handguard has a crack starting at the junction with the frame. The action is excellent, and the markings are crisp throughout.
