Manufactured in 1908. The top of the barrel ahead of the rear sight is marked "MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO./NEW HAVEN, CONN U.S.A. PAT. OCT. 14. 1884. JAN. 20. 1885.", and the top of the barrel at the breech is marked with the Winchester oval proof followed by "45-90 W.C.F." The top of the receiver at the breech is also marked with the Winchester proof. The upper tang is marked with the three line marking, and the serial number is on the lower tang. The barrel is fitted with a replacement King dovetailed blade front sight and an adjustable buckhorn rear sight. Blue finish with casehardened hammer, lever and buttplate. Mounted with a checkered walnut forearm with a steel end cap and pistol grip stock with a hard rubber Winchester grip cap and checkered shotgun buttplate. The accompanying factory letter verifies the takedown rifle configuration, caliber, round 22 inch barrel, plain trigger, checkered pistol grip stock, Lyman "Jack" front and Lyman rear sights at the time of shipment, 1/2 magazine, shotgun butt, and that it that it was received in and shipped out of the warehouse to order number 154438 on June 25, 1908.

Fine as partially refinished. The rifle retains 50% plus original blue finish with some muzzle wear, a number of dings ahead of the magazine tube (normally found on the takedown variation), mottled gray patina on the upper and lower areas of the receiver and a small amount of minor pitting on the receiver. 98% of the original bright blue finish remains on the bolt with a very small amount of minor oxidation near the hammer. Most of the original vivid case colors remain on the sides of the lever and a smooth silver gray patina on the underside edge. The hammer retains most of the original vivid case colors and shows normal usage wear. The lightly sanded wood is also very good as freshened with a coat of varnish some time ago, showing some scattered minor dents and dings. The toe of the buttplate is slightly bent and the wood is depressed. The checkering remains crisp. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
