Description:

This Winchester Model 1873 was manufactured in 1903 and has the military "musket" style long forearm secured by three bands, straight grip buttstock with carbine style buttplate with a cleaning rod compartment (empty), military style blade and folding ladder sights, a nearly full length magazine tube, and the two-line address and patent marking ahead of the rear sight, "44 W.C.F." at the breech, "44 CAL" on the brass cartridge elevator, the model designation on the upper tang, and the serial number on the lower tang.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The rifle retains 85% plus of the original blue finish and nearly all of the vivid case colors and niter blue finish on the loading gate. The elevator has an aged patina. There are scattered patches of rough pitting and oxidation on the top of the barrel, dust cover and lower tang. The wood is near excellent with a few moderate scrapes, dents, and chips. The action is excellent, and the markings are mostly clear.
