Description:

Manufactured in 1888. Features a #1 part octagon barrel with a blade front sight and an adjustable buck horn sporting rear sight. The top barrel flat ahead of the rear sight is marked with the two line address and "22 SHORT" at the breech. The underside is marked "1" directly ahead of the forearm. The October 7, 1879, patent date is marked on the lower tang directly behind the trigger and the serial number is to the rear. Blue barrel with casehardened remaining parts, and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm with an ebony forend insert and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The barrel retains 97% plus original blue finish. 99% bright original case colors remain on the frame and breechblock. The lever retains 95% vivid original case colors with some thinning on the lower tang. Most of the fading original case colors remain on the buttplate with a smooth gray patina on the balance. The wood is also excellent with 99% original varnish remaining and shows a few scattered minor dents and dings. The markings are sharp. The action is excellent.
