Description:

This later production Hepburn rifle was manufactured circa 1900-1907 and has a Rocky Mountain style German silver blade front sight, elevation adjustable notch rear sight, and a short-mid range peep sight. It is mounted with a smooth walnut forearm with Schnabel tip and a buttstock with multi-point checkered round knob semi-pistol grip and steel sporting style buttplate. The matching serial number is marked on the lower tang, end of the forearm, and bottom barrel flat. The heavy octagon barrel is also marked "40-65" ahead of the forearm on the bottom and with "2878" at the breech. The top of the barrel has the post-1887 "REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION N.Y." address ahead of the rear sight. The right side of the action has the two line Hepburn patent information. Only an estimated eight to ten thousand Sporting and Target rifles were manufactured between 1883 and 1907.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall. The rifle retains 97% of the original blue finish and 90% plus fiery case colors with only minor handling/storage marks and some slight spotting. The excellent wood has crisp checkering and some minor dings and marks. Mechanically excellent.
