Description:

This No. 1 Long Range Creedmoor Rolling Block rifle was manufactured by Remington Arms between 1873 and 1890. The barrel is marked with the one-line address on top, "44 CTGE S" and the serial number on the bottom, and is fitted with a windage adjustable globe front sight. A long range style Vernier peep sight is mounted on the upper tang. The matching serial number is also on the rear of the forearm and on the lower tang. The rifle has a straight grain walnut pistol grip stock and smooth forearm. The pistol grip is checkered and has a horn inlay. The forearm has a casehardened steel tip. The casehardened action has the patent markings on the left side.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The rifle displays 90% of the original blue finish on the barrel, 70% faded but visible original case colors and a brown patina on the action, and 75% plus of the original niter blue on the hammer and breechblock. The wood is very good with several small dings and light scratches and filled holes on the top of the butt were a second peep sight base was mounted. Small parts are absent from the front sight. The action is excellent and the markings are crisp.
