Description:

Manufactured between 1864 and 1872. This pistol shows the fine New York pattern of engraving, with it's emphasis on punch dot backed scrollwork and intertwining line patterns, as exhibited in most of Nimschke's work, as well as a grotesque, winged, arrow-tongued beast on the right side of the frame underneath the barrel selector/indicator knob. Blade front and notch rear sights, with "WM. W. MARSTON/PATENTED/MAY 26. 1857/NEW YORK CITY/IMPROVED 1864" on the left side of the frame, and the selector and 3-prong extractor on the right. Matching frame and barrel number. The rear sight doubles as the barrel latch. Smooth spur trigger, checkered hammer and smooth square butt grips.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The frame shows over 85% of the period replated silver finish, with a well aged patina on the exposed brass, a fine patina forming on the silver, and a few light handling marks. The barrels have been cleaned bright, with a small amount of spotting. Grips are revarnished with a small chip absent from the rear of the right panel, a set of 5 notches in the butt of the left panel, and mild handling marks. Mechanically functions but indicator is frozen.
