This pair of box lock pistols has border and martial themed engraving patterns on the actions, sunbursts on the trigger guards and "16" on the lower tangs. The walnut grips have wire inlaid designs. The lower portion of the grips on the sides are raised and the backs are checkered. The left side of the actions have a lever that rotates the pan allowing for firing each barrel independently. The top of the actions also have sliding safety latches. The overall appearance of the pair suggests English or French manufacture in the early 19th century, but no proof or maker's marks are visible.

Good. The pistol is bright with some light spotting, mild handling wear, and some oxidation around the pan lever (lever itself absent). The frizzen has some minor scrapes from use. There are some traces of nitre blue on the upper jaw. The revarnished grip is very good with some light handling type marks, a few slight dings, crisp checkering, and an aged patina on the inlay. The action is crisp.
