A) Bunney Flintlock Pistol

Manufacturer: English
Model: Flintlock Pistol
Type: Pistol
Gauge: 60
Barrel: 5 1/2 inch round
Finish: bright
Grip:
Stock: walnut
Item Views: 2392
Serial Number:
Catalog Page: 59
Class: Antique
Description:

The pistols are marked "BUNNEY" on the left side and "LONDON" on the right in banners accented by light engraving (mostly faded on A, but clear on B). Shops under the name of Joseph Bunney operated in London and Birmingham from 1730-1815 and were controlled by Joseph Bunney, then his son, and finally his grandson. Several similar examples have been seen and most are estimated to have been made c. 1890. The barrels and frames are round and transition to a war club shaped grip with silver wire inlay, initial shields, and a border engraved buttcap. The barrels turn off for quicker reloading and allow for a tighter fit which creates greater muzzle velocity. The bottom of the barrels have "crown/cross scepter" proofs.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The pistol has a brown patina with some spots of light pitting. The left side of the frame has a small amount of separation. The grip is fair with repairs and cracks at the junction with the frame. Mechanically fine.
