These ingenious single shot pistols were manufactured from approximately 1867 to 1888 with a production total of 10,000 or less. The collectors once called these the "Mississippi" Derringer presumably to enhance their popularity as riverboat gambler hideout Derringers. This example has the matching serial number on the bottom of the action and barrel, a post front sight, the two-line address/patent marking on the barrel, and smooth rosewood grips. These pistols used a brilliant but simple system and had a combination hammer/breechblock. The integral firing pin on the breech lines up with the front post for sighting.

Good. The pistol has a gray patina overall with some faint pitting. The grips are also good with some mild handling wear. The action is excellent, and the markings are clear
