Description:

This revolver's serial number dates to 1849. The "dot" marking used by Colt to denote factory engraving is marked by the matching serial numbers on the frame, trigger guard, and back strap. It has the Texas Ranger fight scene on the cylinder and factory vine style scroll engraving. See the similarly engraved revolver on page 18 of "The Book of Colt Engraving". It has the two line New York City barrel address and the "COLTS/PATENT" stamp on the cylinder and frame. It is equipped with post and notch sights and a smooth one piece grip. It comes in a modern hardwood case with a combination tool, cap tin, and reproduction Colt's patent eagle powder flask and dual cavity bullet mold.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as professionally embellished, refinished and remarked. The revolver retains 98% plus of the blue and silver finishes and subdued case colors. The silver has an aged patina. The grip is very fine with only slight handling marks. The wedge is a replacement. It is mechanically excellent and has crisp markings and designs. The relined, refinished case and accessories are good.
