Also known as the Kickup Model with an estimated 1,000 manufactured from 1864 to 1876, the Fish Tail single shot was Joshua Stevens' first work as an independent arms manufacturer and elements of the design can be seen in the Stevens firearms manufactured into the 20th century. It has German silver round blade front and hammer groove rear sights, a checkered hammer, smooth spur trigger and a pair of smooth rosewood grips with the signature "fish tail" butt profile. The top barrel flat is marked with the early production marking "STEVENS & CO. VEST POCKET PISTOL/CHICOPEE FALLS MASS." The serial number is marked on the left side of the barrel.

Good. The pistol been cleaned and has an overall gray patina with some scattered pin prick pitting. The grips are also good with the left panel split at the screw, a crack in the same position repaired on the right panel and some overall minor scratches. The action is fine. The markings are partially worn away but are identifiable.
