Description:

Under 13,000 of these pistols were manufactured by the Chicago Firearms Co. in the 1890s. Only an estimated 1,000 had a blue finish. The removable left side is marked "THE PROTECTOR PAT.MCH.6.83.AUG.29.93" in a circle at the center and has a checkered border. The right side plate is marked "CHICAGO FIRE ARMS CO. CHICAGO, ILL" in a circle at the center. The matching serial number is marked on the inside of the frame, on the side plate and on the cartridge block. The inside of the frame also has an "IN'S" mark below the serial number. It has a checkered hard rubber plunger pad and matching side plate inserts.

Rating Definition:

Fine. 30% of the original blue finish remains mixed with patches of brown patina and oxidation. There are some extensive scrapes and nicks overall and some light pitting. The side plates and plunger pad are fine with some smoothing of the checkering and minor marks. The action rotates but needs some work as the palm device won't retract back to ready position. The markings are legible.
