The barrel has a .22 caliber liner that extends just 2/3s of the length of the barrel. The rifle has the standard U.S. Navy Springfield Model 1870 markings and features and has the additional "NO. 63 W.W.K. 1889" marking found on the conversions. The buttstock has a star on each side of the wrist and an "ESA" cartouche on the left side.

Rating Definition:

About good. The rifle has a mixture of brown varnish and brown patina along with some brighter patches, mild oxidation, and light pitting, The wood is good and has a dark nearly black tone along with various scratches, pressure marks, chips, and strike marks. The action is fine, and most of the markings are legible.
