This exceptional First Generation Single Action Army was shipped in its current configuration in a shipment of three guns of this type to Wolf & Klar in Fort Worth, Texas, on October 9, 1922, as detailed in the factory letters. It has blade and groove sights and checkered hard rubber grips with Rampant Colt emblems that are hand numbered to the gun. The barrel is marked with the two line Hartford address on top and "45 COLT" on the left side. The frame is marked with the two line, three date patent information on the left side followed by the Rampant Colt. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame and the right side of the grip straps. The matching assembly number "393" is stamped on the loading gate and right side rear of the frame. Wolf & Klar Wholesale Sporting Goods were influential and prolific dealers in Texas in the first part of the 20th century. John Dillinger's Colt 38 Super and several other Dillinger Gang firearms were among the many guns that passed through their hands and into action in the Southwest. While 1922 time frame Colt SAA's can be found in excellent condition, this revolver has two very unique features: it was Fort Worth, Texas, shipped in 1922, and it has the very desirable 4 3/4 inch barrel. In 1922, Fort Worth Texas was still a ranching and oil town, any 4 3/4 inch barreled Colt Revolver would have most likely been utilized in a gun-holster on a ranch. To find a 4 3/4 inch barrel Colt 45 sent to Texas in 1922 that is in excellent condition is an extreme rarity; a very wealthy ranch owner must have really cared for this gun!

Excellent. The revolver retains 97% of the original blue finish with some slight loss at the muzzle, some faint scratches, and a light cylinder drag line. The frame retains 90% plus of the original fiery case colors with some light spotting and minor marks. The grips are near new with minor handling marks. The action is excellent, and the markings and checkering are crisp. Texas shipped Colts, especially pre-war examples, are always desirable, but most are well worn. This example is definitely exceptional and has clearly been well maintained for nearly a century.
