This is an exceptional presentation cased factory engraved Merwin, Hulbert & Co. small frame revolver with nickel plated barrel, frame and five-shot cylinder with two-piece pearl grips. The hammer and trigger are casehardened and the hammer has a folding spur. The top of the barrel rib is roll-stamped "MERWIN HULBERT & CO. NEW YORK U.S.A./PAT. APR. 17.77 JUNE 15.80 MAR.14.82 JAN.9.83" reading toward the muzzle. "32 CAL" is roll-stamped on the left side of the frame below the cylinder. "PAT/Jan.27.85" is stamped on the left side of the folding hammer spur. The serial number, "10421", is stamped on the bottom of the butt and on the rear face of the cylinder. The revolver is factory engraved with the distinctive punch-dot floral pattern engraving utilized on Merwin Hulbert & Co., revolvers. A dog's head is delicately engraved on the left side of the receiver. The floral designs were originally highlighted with gem stones. The revolver is complete with a black leather covered case lined with crimson colored silk and decorated with a white ribbon. Factory engraved and cased Merwin, Hulbert & Co. revolvers are rare.

Excellent. The revolver is all original and retains 95% of the original nickel plated finish. There are a few spots of flaking on edges of the top strap. There is some flaking and dark spots on the inside of the top strap and face of the cylinder. There is a small spot of flaked finish on the butt and the lower edge of the back strap and several small spots of pitting on the sides of the frame. The distinctive engraving is crisp. Most of the casehardened finish is present on the hammer and trigger. The pearl grips are excellent. The case is near fine. The leather cover shows moderate handling wear with missing leather on the edges of the ends. The silk interior remains fine. Wear is limited to several minor contact stains. This is a very good example of a rare factory engraved and cased Merwin, Hulbert & Co. Small Frame Double Action revolver.
