Massachusetts Arms Co., Maynard Primed Pocket revolver with automatically revolving cylinder manufactured c. 1859. The revolver has a six shot cylinder and integral Maynard tape primer with magazine door on the right side of the frame. A brass cone front sight is mounted on the barrel and a fixed rear sight is mounted on the top strap. The cylinder is decorated with etched floral designs and the left side of the frame, back strap, primer magazine door and top of the hammer are decorated with open scroll engraving. The barrel, cylinder, frame, magazine door and trigger guard have a high polish blue finish. The top strap and hammer are casehardened. The two-piece walnut grips have a high polish piano finish. The top strap is roll-stamped "MASS. ARMS CO/CHICOPEE FALLS". The back strap is stamped "PATENT/JAN. 2 1855". The primer door is marked "MAYNARD"S PATENT/SEPT 22 1845" in a circle. The full serial number "1104" is stamped on the right side of the frame beneath the grip and the partial serial number "104" is stamped on the frame underneath the magazine door, on the inside of the magazine door and penciled on the inside of both grips.

Near new. The revolver retains 99% of the bright original blue and casehardened finish. The blue finish is thin on the back strap and butt, but the remainder of the revolver shows minimal wear. The back strap and hammer have vivid case colors. The cylinder retains all of the floral etching and the engraved scroll work is crisp. The walnut grips retain nearly 100% of the piano finish varnish with wear limited to a few very insignificant handling marks. This is an outstanding example of a Massachusetts Arms Co. Maynard Primed Pocket revolver in nearly new condition.
