Based on the estimates in the included copy of Don Wilkerson's The Post-War Colt Single-Action Revolver, 1976-1986, only 8% of the factory engraved Third Generation Single Action Army revolvers were in .45 Colt with blued 4 3/4 inch barrels, cylinders, and grip straps and casehardened frames. This example has the popular Type "C" 75% coverage scroll engraving patterns and is fitted with one-piece style mother of pearl grips with golden Colt Custom medallions (two pieces bonded to a wood spacer). The matching serial number is on the bottom of the frame and the left side of the grip straps. The bottom left of the back strap is also marked with the proper "COLT ENG" stamp. The included factory letter copy confirms that this revolver was shipped in its current form (grips not listed) to M&N Distributors in Torrence, California, on December 4, 1978. The revolver comes in a bound factory case with orange velvet lined interior fitted to the gun.

Near new in case. The revolver has only light handling/storage marks overall and the faintest of drag lines on the cylinder. The case is very good with some fading of the lid emblem and minor fading/staining on the interior.
