According to the included factory letter this revolver was shipped as the sole gun of this type on June 14, 1978, to Oshman's Sporting Goods in Houston, Texas. The letter also confirms the "D" level standard scroll engraving, blue/casehardened finish, caliber, and barrel length. The scroll engraving patterns cover nearly all of the metal surfaces including the cylinder flutes. Only some small sections of the barrel, most of the front strap, and the hammer are not engraved. The revolver has the standard markings including matching serial numbers, and "COLT ENG." is on the left side of the front strap near the bottom. The grips are the Rampant Colt and Federal each emblem version. The revolver comes in a hardwood case with blue velvet lined interior fitted to the gun. Also included is the original maroon factory box which is hand numbered to the gun. Less than 1/4 of the factory engraved Third Generation SAAs feature "D" grade engraving based on the estimated discussed in The Post-War Colt Single Action Revolver, 1976-1986.

New in case. The case is excellent with some minor marks from storage and the box is very good with some edge wear.
