Description:

Manufactured in 1956, the introductory year for the Second Generation Single Action Army, this revolver has the single line address on top of barrel, and "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .38 SPECIAL" is on the left side. The left side of the frame is marked with the two-line, three patent dates followed by the Rampant Colt. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame and left side of the grip straps under the grips, and the matching assembly number (144) is marked on the right rear of the frame and on the loading gate. It has blade front and frame notch rear sights, blue finish with casehardened frame and is fitted with checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt at the top. This revolver also has the high hammer which is found on revolvers from 1956 until mid-1959.The grips are marked "8019" on the inside. The accompanying factory letter verifies the caliber, barrel length, blue finish with rubber grips and that it was shipped as 1 of 10 to Richards and Conover Hardware Co. in St. Louis, Mo. On November 5, 1956. It is complete with the original hinged lid black box numbered to the gun, bore brush and papers.

Rating Definition:

Excellent plus in box. The revolver retains 99% plus original blue and casehardened finish with some light handling/storage marks and some cycling marks on the cylinder. The grips are also excellent with only a few light handling marks. The markings are sharp and the action is excellent. The box is fine with a separated corner on the lid, some minor corner wear and some contact wear on the interior.
