This revolver is one of 250 manufactured in 1983. Another 250 were produced with blue and casehardened finish. This revolver has "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY 45 ACP" marked on the left side of the barrel, the standard patent markings on the frame, "Colt Armory Special Edition" engraved on the back strap and smooth silver Colt medallion grips. It currently has the .45 long Colt cylinder installed but also includes a matching .45 ACP cylinder. It comes in a factory hardcase with blue lined interior fitted to the gun and cylinder and has a copy of "The Colt Armory: A History of the Colt Armory in Hartford, 1855-1980". The original "wood grain" box with Custom Shop label numbered to the gun with papers is also included. The factory letter confirms the configuration including the smooth grips, extra cylinder, that the back strap engraving was executed by Master Engraver Steve Kamyk, and that it shipped to A. De John (head of the Colt Custom Shop beginning in the 1960s) at Colt Industries' Firearms Division in Hartford on June 21, 1983.

Excellent with 99% plus original nickel finish remaining showing only slight handling and storage marks and slight drag lines on the cylinder. The case is very good with minor storage marks, and the box is very good with minor tears and rub wear.
