The consignor notes indicate that the revolver was engraved by Jan Gwinnell which was specifically requested by Albert Brichaux. Colt had a policy of not naming the engraver unless they were a master engraver. The included factory letter copy confirms the revolver's configuration including the carved one piece grip and the "Class 'C' American scroll engraving". Of note is the Rampant Colt head among the scroll engraving on the left rear of the frame, the lion head gnashing its teeth on the opposite side, Rampant Colt head and tail on the top of the back strap, and spread wing eagles on the sides of the top strap. The letter indicates the revolver was shipped to Armsmear II in Anaheim, California, on June 18, 1995, on Custom Shop order #5329. The engraved SAA with the saloon girl carved grip also in this auction was shipped to the same location the following day. Armsmear II is the trade name used by Brichaux. The revolver has the standard markings and sights. It comes with the original Colt Custom Shop shipping sleeve with matching neon label and the original blue box with papers.
