This is a beautiful example of a Colt Factory Third Generation Single Action Army revolver that was gold inlaid by master engraver Howard Dove. This revolver has the Colt factory high polish blue finish on all the parts with single and double-line gold inlaid bands and outlined frame panels. Howard Dove was one of the best of the master engravers on the Colt staff, and his work is highly sought after. This revolver is fully documented by a Colt factory letter confirming the engraving was performed by Howard Dove, the configuration and that it was shipped to Aeromarine, Birmingham, AL on October 20, 1982, as part of a two gun shipment. The gold inlay highlights the high polish finish. The gold bands are located as follows: a double band (one large and one small) on both ends of the barrel, the ejector housing and the rear of the cylinders. There is a single gold band which outlines the upper and lower section of the frame and a double gold band outline of a shield on the top of the grip strap. The grips are smooth with the 150th Colt anniversary medallions on each side. It has the standard single line barrel address, and the side of the barrel is marked "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY 45". The left side of the frame has the standard Colt two-line patent markings and Rampant Colt directly behind that. It comes in the original Colt 150th Anniversary maroon box with the green Colt custom label on the end with instructions and papers inside.
