This beautiful Colt New Frontier revolver was factory engraved and gold inlaid at the Colt Custom Shop by Master Engraver Leonard "Corky" Francolini shortly before he left Colt to work as a free-lance engraver. Francolini worked at Colt from 1972 until 1979 and continues to produce exceptional pieces to this day. The included factory letter confirms that the revolver was engraved by Francolini, and that it was shipped Oshman's Sporting Goods in Houston, Texas, on Jun 29, 1979, with a presentation case. The letter also confirms the configuration and the following gold accents: "-The frame is inlaid in gold on the left side with a Black Bear and on the right side with a Tule Elk [It actually has two sparing elk.]. -A gold inlaid border highlights the frame, trigger guard, and back strap.-The cylinder is accented with double gold inlaid bands. -The top of the barrel is inlaid in gold with a coiled rattle snake. -The barrel markings are inlaid in gold with a gold border around the Colt address. -The barrel is further embellished with double inlaid bands at the muzzle and rear of the barrel extending down to include the ejector tube." There are also flourishes of gold inlaid scroll work on the cylinder, frame, back strap, and trigger guard, and it displays around 85% coverage scroll engraving patterns with punch dot backgrounds on the remaining surfaces. The revolver is fitted with smooth grips with golden Colt medallions. The left side of the back strap at the butt is signed "C. Francolini". It comes in a hardwood presentation case with red velvet interior fitted to the gun.

Near new. The revolver displays only the slightest storage type marks. The grips are excellent and have a few slight age cracks. The case is very good with some storage marks. This is an outstanding Colt New Frontier engraved by Master Engraver Leonard Francolini during his short time at Colt.
