This Model 70 Super Grade rifle was manufactured in 1940 and has the early style Winchester legend including the ".30 GOV'T.'06." caliber designation. The floor plate is marked "-SUPER GRADE-". It has a replacement blade front sight on a stippled ramp cut for a hood and a rear sight filler block. The left side of the receiver has been fitted with a Lyman peep sight. The polished bolt has a solid knob, early style safety, and is numbered to the gun. The early style receiver has a clover leaf tang, serrated top, and stripper clip slot and is not tapped for scope mounting on the rear bridge. It is mounted on a pistol grip stock with early style cheekpiece, wrap around multi-point checkering, contrasting forend cap, early Winchester hard rubber grip cap, Super Grade sling swivels, leather sling, and checkered steel buttplate.

Excellent. The rifle retains 97% plus of the original blue finish with some overall light handling and storage marks, minor cycling wear, and slight loss at the muzzle. The stock is also excellent with sharp checkering, some wear on the forend at the bottom from rubbing against the sling hardware, scattered minor nicks and light scratches, and some slight verdigris from the sling. The action is excellent. Missing front sight hood.
