The Model 1903 was the first semi-automatic rifle offered by Winchester and was followed by the Model 1905 and 1907 of similar design but larger calibers. Manufactured in 1905, this example has the two-line address/patent dates ahead of the rear sight on the top of the barrel and two-line trademark, model and caliber designation at the breech. Mounted on a nicely figured select walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with fine multipoint checkering. Features a Lyman beaded blade front, a two leaf Lyman flip up express mid and tang mounted Lyman rear peep sights.

Very good overall with 85% original polished blue finish displaying small areas of high point and edge wear on the receiver as well as light to moderate surface scratches and areas of moderate flaking. The wood is very good as lightly refreshed and varnished with attractive grain and well defined checkering. Mechanically excellent.
