Description:

Manufactured circa 1917-1918 with a single brass bead sight, choked cylinder and a 2 3/4 inch chamber. The left side of the barrel is marked with the two line address and patent date information in front of "12 GA." and "CYL.". Mounted on an 18 groove ribbed round forearm and pistol grip stock with a hard rubber buttplate. Length of pull is 13 3/4 inches. Included are copies of a receipt/document listing this shotgun among a group purchased from the Erie RR Dover depot by the Dover Sports Center in 1887 and the Volume 30, No. 2, 2008 issue of Man at Arms for the Gun and Sword Collector issue that contains "The Erie Winchesters" by Bob Seijas which discusses these shotguns. The article notes these guns were discovered in near mint condition complete with records that suggested they were purchased by the railroad as government surplus after WWI. Note that lot 1465 was also purchased from the Erie Railroad. The original documents are included with lot 1459 which was also one of the shotguns purchased from the depot.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall with 97% of the original blue. With some light surface scratches, small areas of high point wear and some scattered light dings. The wood is also excellent with some light indentations, general handling marks and some deeper scratches in the grip area. Mechanically excellent.
