Manufactured circa 1912. With a fixed blade front and round top rear notch sights. The finish is the highly polished brilliant blue found on only early production pistols with niter blue small parts. With the standard two-line/two block Hartford address and patent dates and the Rampant Colt standing on a partial globe behind the serrations. The right side is marked with the standard caliber and model designation. The non-factory period custom grips are pearl with nicely executed diamond pattern checkering and inset Rampant Colt medallions. It is known that Colt did some checkered pearl grips, but they are exceedingly rare, and these lack the standard red or black hardboard spacers or "shoes" on the back.

Near excellent with 97% of the bright original polished blue finish, scattered light handling marks and a small area of pitting present on the left side of the slide near the muzzle showing light edge wear and spotting. The grips are fine with a chip at the back of the right panel and a very small chip at the heel of the left. Mechanically excellent.
