Description:

This pistol was manufactured in 1916 and is marked with Belgian Proofmarks on the left side of the frame and slide, and on the chamber. It has the two-line, two-block patent information on the left side of the slide, the serial number on the left side of the frame, the "VP" proofmark on the trigger guard, and "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE 32 RIMLESS SMOKELESS" on the right side of the slide. It is fitted with the last style of hard rubber grips and has the standard round blade front and u-notch rear sights. It comes with a scarce factory tin box. These boxes were only used in 1915. 2,373 of these boxes were used for the Belgian contract pistols #. Based on the information in "The Colt Pocket Hammerless Automatic Pistols" by Brunner, this pistol shipped to Belgium in 1916 and the Belgian government ordered some 24,002 Model 1903 pistols. The box has a dark purple maroon paint and Colt labels.

Rating Definition:

Very good as period refinish. The pistol has 70% of the faded blue finish mixed with areas of brown and gray patina. There are some minor marks and scratches and some faint pitting. The grips are fine with moderate handling wear overall and a slight crack on the right panel. The markings are crisp and the action is excellent. The box is very good with an uneven purple tone with some bright areas, storage type wear, and some corrosion on the interior. The labels are fine.
