Manufactured in 1941, one of only 250 serial numbers recorded for the year; while America wouldn't formally enter World War II until December, the shift to military production was already well underway, and purely civilian products like the Ace gave way to the 1911A1 and the Service Model Ace. Aside from a short run in 1947, these would be Colt's last Ace pistols. Blade front and windage adjustable rear sights, with a platinum wire highlight below the square notch, two-line Hartford address and patent dates on the left side of the slide ahead of the Rampant Colt, and the "ACE" logo on the right ahead of the ejector port. Fitted with a short milled trigger, checkered wide hammer, thumb safety and mainspring housing, serrated slide stop, long grip safety and a two-tone Ace magazine. The factory letter covers the receiver only and states it was shipped on January 6, 1950, to Remington Arms Company in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Very fine as period modified with 85% plus of the original blue finish showing bright wear along the high edges, mild takedown scratches on the frame, the start of a brown patina on the grip straps and mild handling marks overall. The rear sight is a period custom upgrade. The 1911 replacement grips are very good and show a few light dings and flat spots. Mechanically excellent.
