This is an example of an "A.F. Stoeger" marked Mauser Luger pistol. These Lugers have the three or four digit serial number followed by the "V" suffix and the large American Eagle crest on the chamber area. They were specifically produced for the U.S. market and have the desirable full "A.F. Stoeger" marked frame and barrel extension. The right side of the barrel extension is marked "GERMANY A.F. STOEGER, INC./NEW YORK.", and the right side frame rail is marked "GENUINE LUGER -REGISTERED U.S. PATENT OFFICE". It is marked "GELADEN" and "SAFE" respectively on the extractor and upper safety position in lieu of "Geladen" and "Gesichert". This pistol has a single Crown/N commercial proof on the underside of the barrel and barrel extension and a "Erfurt" firing proof on the side of the breech block. The only parts that are serial numbered are the front of the frame (414v), the side plate (14), and the replacement breechblock (04) and complete earlier production replacement DWM marked toggle assembly numbered (04). The front of the frame is stamped "GERMANY" indicating export outside of Europe. The barrel has the standard front and rear sight. It is complete with a nickel plated magazine with an unmarked aluminum base.

Very fine as assembled with 85% of the blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear overall. There are three-four small spots of fine pitting on the front of the trigger guard, frame and upper edges of the side plate, probably from sitting in a holster. The various smaller parts retain 30% of their straw colors overall. The grips are in excellent condition with nice distinct checkering on both sides with only minor handling marks.
