Description:

This is an example of 1940 dated WWII Mauser "42" code Mauser Luger pistol with the scarce Navy marked back strap. The back strap is marked "N/3992", indicating that it was issued to the North Sea Navy fleet. This specific pistol has the all blued metal finish with a set of unnumbered checkered walnut grips. The chamber area is dated "1940" with the wartime "42" code marking on the front toggle. The right side of the barrel extension has the double "eagle/655" Waffenamt proofs next to the single eagle firing proof, which is also present on the right side of the barrel. The underside of the barrel is also marked with the bore diameter "8,81", along with the serial number of the pistol. Safety and extractor are correctly marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" respectively. It is currently fitted with an all blued, unmarked blued magazine with an aluminum base "6163/x".

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 80% of the faded wartime blued finish with edge and high spot wear overall with finish loss on the side rails, stock lug with browning of the finish on the side plate hump, only. The grips are in very fine condition with nice distinct checkering on the sides showing light wear on the diamonds, with several small handing marks/dings on the right side. It has matching numbers except the magazine and grips are noted with a sharp/distinct Navy markings on the back strap.
