Description:

Manufactured in 1941, information from John Brunner's book "The Colt Pocket Hammerless Automatic Pistols" lists this pistol in the serial number range of a 100-piece batch of pocket pistols shipped to England on February 25, 1941. The consignor states this was Brunner's gun and can be found pictured in the book on page 97, figure 124. It appears to be the same gun. Many of these pistols were used to arm Britain's clandestine forces, most famously the Special Operation Executive and the Polish commando unit that assassinated Reinhard Heydrich in 1942. On arrival, the pistol received commercial "crown/circle V" and "NOT ENGLISH MAKE" stamps, and later received military "broad arrow" and "lazy E/8N" proofs. The remainder of the markings are Colt standard, with the one-block address and patent dates on the left side of the slide ahead of the Rampant Colt, caliber marking on the right, and "73" and "T/VP" on the trigger guard. Overall finish is a dark parkerization, with polished muzzle and chamber and a pair of fancy walnut checkered grips. With a reproduction Kraft-style box numbered to match the pistol, Colt instruction sheet, cut-out advertisement for the Herrett's Stocks company, and an extra full-blue magazine.

Rating Definition:

Fine as arsenal refurbished, with a few light scratches and handling marks on the 98% finish. The grips are fine custom replacements, with only a few tiny dings on the crisp checkering and fine grain and finish. The instruction sheet shows some mild edge tears, and the box a few light scuffs. Mechanically excellent.
