Description:

Based in Poughkeepsie, New York, International Business Machine Plant #4 was a manufacturing center for office equipment in peacetime, and the M1 Carbine in World War II. While the specifics of this carbine are unknown, Plant #4 is known to have made high quality presentation carbines for their own employees, as well as for prominent political, financial and military figures, both as tokens of esteem and as gifts for people who might have a say in future arms and equipment orders. Finished in high-polish nickel overall, with "SI B" blade front and "FO B" 2-leaf peep rear sights, an unmarked barrel, Type II barrel band, round nickel bolt, stamped trigger guard, pushbutton safety, "EPB" magazine catch, and a smooth high-wood stock with 2-rivet handguard, "JL" in the sling cut, nickel buttplate and a plaque in the right buttstock marked "PRESENTED/BY/IBM PLANT #4/POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.".

Rating Definition:

Fine as partially refinished (stock) with 98% of the heavily polished nickel finish, showing some light handling marks overall. Some of the markings, including the serial number, are faded. The stock is very good as revarnished, with a few mild handling marks. Magazine not included. Mechanically excellent.
