Description:

This pistol has an unclear maker's mark on the bottom of the action near the breech and was produced circa the early percussion period (1820s-1830s). It has a screw off cannon style barrel, light border and scroll engraving and a bag shaped walnut stock with relief carving around the upper tang, wire inlaid scrollwork and a raised relief carved face on the butt. The back of the stock has a receiver for the included removable buttstock which has a German style wood patchbox and a pinned leather cheek rest.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The pistol has a mottled gray-brown patina along with patches of oxidation and light pitting. The stock is fair with a crack on the right at the junction with the receiver and some scrapes and dings. The buttstock is fine with some crackling in the old refurbished varnish and the leather, and some small chips, dings, and scratches. The action functions fine.
