Description:

This is a nice example of a high grade engraved percussion shotgun. The barrels are brown Damascus with a single bead sight. The left rear is marked with two unrecognizable marks/proofs followed by "20". The breech end top of the left barrel is silver inlaid "Canon" and "Cordu" on the right. The rib at the breech is silver inlaid "Merlen Fraxsse". The hammers are engraved with a floral vine design. The rear of each lock has the same floral vine design and the remainder of the locks are engraved with a hunting dog and game bird scene. The lower tang, forearm forend and upper tang are decorated with a floral vine design. The trigger guard has a game bird scene. The barrels are brown. The hammers and locks appear to have been casehardened, and the trigger guard/ lower tang, forearm forend, ramrod pipes and buttplate are silver plated. There is a sling swivel mounted on the rear ramrod pipe, and the shotgun is mounted with a one piece wedge secured straight grip stock with checkered wrist bordered by a carved floral design and a shotgun buttplate with engraved tang, sling swivel and "KEK" inscribed silver thumb shield. Comes with a ramrod. Length of pull is 14 1/4 inches.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrels retain 40% thinning original brown finish. The hammers and locks have a smooth silver gray patina. The remaining parts retain all of the original silver plating, most of which is darkening with age. Most of the silver inlay in the barrel remains. The stock is also fine with a few scattered dings and nicks. The checkering is very crisp. The engraving is clear. The action is excellent.
