Description:

This William Tranter revolver features blade and frame groove sights, a long ejector rod on the underside of the barrel, an unfluted cylinder, loading gate that opens downward for reloading and a one piece checkered walnut grip. The frame and barrel were blued while the cylinder was casehardened. The barrel and cylinder both have London proofmarks. The barrel is also marked with the caliber designation "320". The left side of the frame at the breech is marked "W. TRANTER/PATENT/30761". Most Tranter firearms have retailer markings on the top barrel flat but this example is not retailer marked. Some firearms historians believe that relatively few Tranter revolvers without retailer markings were either sold by Tranter's own small shop or perhaps by another small firm that did not have the resources to have their own name applied. Tranter purposely left the top flats unmarked so that retailers could apply these markings.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel retains 75% of the original blue finish while the frame has some faded blue finish and a primarily gray patina. The cylinder has muted case colors. There are some patches of minor pitting and light oxidation. The grip is very fine with sharp checkering and only minor handling/storage marks. The markings are crisp and the action remains excellent.
