Description:

This shotgun is marked "J. Mc Gxxxxck" on the lock and "James McGxxxxck Aqr" on the top of the barrel in Gothic script. It has tight scroll engraving patterns on most of the components aside from the main body of the barrel. The lock has a bird at the rear and a dog below the bolster which has what appears to be a platinum inlay. The breech end of the barrel is partially dished and the muzzle has a front sight post. It is fitted on a checkered walnut half stock with a horn forend and flat shotgun buttplate. An unmarked silver initial shield is on the bottom of the butt.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The metal surfaces display a mottled brown patina along with some light pitting. The re-oiled wood is fine with a repair on the toe, crisp checkering, scattered light scratches, and some small chips. The action is excellent, and the markings and engraving patterns remain mostly crisp.
