Description:

Both are produced from primarily white porcelain with hand-painted decoration and mark on the underside with the last character Chinese for palace. 1) Japanese bowl, 10 1/2 inches wide and two inches tall, with a scalloped edge. The interior of the bowl is bordered in fine red, gold and blue enamel, with interior and exterior scenes of a temple. Light floral patterns are present on the underside, with a raised five-pointed star near the makers mark. 2) Japanese plate, 9 1/2 inches wide and 1 3/8 inches tall. A panel of gold enamel chrysanthemums with textured green and black backing is present on the top with the remainder of the interior decorated with a scene of an elderly couple seated on a beach observing a pair of birds in flight. Light floral patterns are present on the underside.

Rating Definition:

1) Very good. A small chip has been repaired on the underside, and a few light handling marks are visible overall. 2) Excellent with light handling marks.
