Description:

According to an information sheet provided by the consignor, an unidentified consultant attributed this bowl as being from the Ch'ing (or Quing) Dynasty of China, specifically the Kuang Hsu (Guangxu) period (circa late 19th century). Overall measurements are 4 3/8 inches high and 9 3/4 inches wide with white porcelain construction. The surface is virtually covered with a Chinese mythical creature called a Pixiu, which was a powerful protector of Feng Shui Practioners, colored purple and green, inside the bowl and fine blue floral and geometric patterns around the lower edge. No maker's marks are present. A carved black-colored hardwood stand stamped "CHINA" on the underside is also included.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with a few stains on the underside from contact with the stand, a small hole in the side, and minimal handling marks overall.
