Description:

Measuring 12 inches long, the blade features an 8 inch cutting edge, gently waving hamon and a silver habaki with straight vertical line engraving. The polish of the blade runs to about a quarter inch below the habaki, with a well aged tang with a single mekugi-ana, signed on both sides. A consignor-supplied translation describes them as a date of February 1560 and the signature of an Osafune-school smith named Kiyomitsu, operating out of Bizen Province. This production date would place it towards the end of the Sengoku (warring states) Period. Included with the blade are a set of unmarked shirasaya mounts, a black horn mekugi, and a purple cloth case.

Rating Definition:

Very good with a few tiny grain separations in the skin of the blade and some light handling marks overall.
